Embolization of a Giant Splenic Artery Aneurysm

چکیده
Background: Splenic artery aneurysms (SAA) are the most frequent visceral artery aneurysms. Large and symptomatic aneurysms have an increased risk for rupture and should be treated interventionally or surgically. Methods: We describe the case of a 44-year-old male patient with a possibly mycotic splenic artery aneurysm of approximately 12 cm in diameter. Results: As a result of a consensus in an interdisciplinary case discussion, endovascular embolization was successfully performed. No late complications occurred during a 3-year follow-up. Conclusion: Minimal-invasive percutaneous trans catheter embolization was an effective and safe treatment for a large SAA. As there are no evidence-based guidelines, the decision whether to treat interventionally or surgically must be made individually.

Embolization of a True Giant Splenic Artery Aneurysm Using NBCA Glue – Case Report and Literature Review
BACKGROUND Although splenic artery aneurysms (SAAs) are common, their giant forms (more than 10 cm in diameter) are rare. Because of the variety of forms and locations of these aneurysms, there are a lot of therapeutic methods to choose. In our case of a giant true aneurysm we performed an endovascular embolization with N-butyl-cyano-acrylate (NBCA) glue. To our knowledge it is the first report...
متن کاملTime-resolved Magnetic Resonance Angiography for assessment of recanalization after coil embolization of visceral artery aneurysms
BACKGROUND Follow-up imaging after coil embolization of visceral artery aneurysms is important for detecting recanalization. However, CT examination is susceptible to coil artifacts, which sometimes makes it difficult to assess recanalization. We report 2 cases where recanalization was successfully visualized using time-resolved magnetic resonance angiography after coil embolization of visceral...
متن کاملEndovascular stent graft treatment in a patient with splenic artery aneurysm.
Splenic artery aneurysms are rare but important vascular lesions that constitute approximately 60% of all visceral arterial aneurysms. Splenic artery is the third most common localization of intraabdominal aneurysm formation. Rupture is the main complication that occurs in 3%-10% of the cases. We describe a case with a proximal splenic artery aneurysm. To preserve splenic function and reduce th...
متن کاملAcute fissuration of a giant splenic artery aneurysm detected by point-of-care ultrasound: case report
BACKGROUND Epigastric pain is frequent in Emergency Medicine and remains a challenging situation. Besides benign etiologies such as gastritis or uncomplicated cholelithiasis, it could reveal myocardial infarction or vascular disease. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) could be performed in such situation. CASE PRESENTATION A healthy 66-year-old man with no previous medical history was admitted ...
متن کاملEndovascular Treatment of Aneurysm of Splenic Artery Arising from Splenomesentric Trunk Using Stent Graft
We report a rare case of aneurysm of splenic artery arising anomalously from the superior mesenteric artery (SMA). The aneurysm was treated successfully by coil embolization of the splenic artery distal to aneurysm and then deploying a stent graft in the SMA. A combination of stent graft and coil embolization for the treatment of aberrant splenic artery aneurysm has been reported only once. We ...
